3 days in Popes Glen I'm just back from 3 days break over the New Year's weekend, and I was served a reminder that landscape photographers should never tire of re-visiting "favourite" locations. The weather and lighting will be different on each visit, the foliage seasonally different. You will never cease to be amazed at the subtle (sometimes not so subtle) variations in look and feel. I guess that may have been one of the main reasons that Ansel Adams made so many visits to his favourite national parks and canyons. It didn't ever seem to him that he'd "been there, done that". As these images from my 3 days show, the look and feel of a landscape changes daily, hourly, or even by the minute. Next time someone queries why you were back at your favourite location yet again, just smile knowingly ;-) Geoff Smith |
